Default q9540 stable OC for 24/7 results

How does this look for a 24/7 OC on this CPU?

440*8 = 3520MHz

1.275v set in bios, undervolts to 1.24v and no vdroop thanks to loadline calibration. 1.42 on the nordbridge, the NB keeping at 48c.

I actually booted on 3.8GHz, with 1.26v on vcore, but i got a crappy ram, and it couldnt handle it. So far i have to say.... if i got a better ram this CPU is an insane OCer!

Pic attached,

tom

1.21v vid. So, any recommendations on a ram that can handle about 1000Mhz with decent timings? (5-5-5-15)

A quad on 4GHz on air would be ... mmmmm.

I am about to throw up in disgust...

Thats an awesome VID mate I think. OCZ Reaper is pretty good, what chipset and RAM is your motherboard first of all?. My OCZ Reaper 2x2gb 800Mhz 6-6-6-24 can overclock itself to 1006Mhz 5-5-5-15. DDR2 or DDR3? If DDR2, you can get the OCZ ReaperX that comes at 1000Mhz and overclock that further.

x38 chipset DDR2, running the stuff in my sig rig. As for ram, when i went for 3.8, the ram couldnt handle 950MHz even with 6-6-6-22-2t. Its corsair XMS TwinX, using 4x 1GB sticks, the 800MHz CL4 ones, looks like i got a really crappy chips there tho. The way its now: 1.42v on the nordbridge, 48c. A whopping 2.25v on the rams to keep this stable.

Nice overclock on that CPU

Why don't you unlink your RAMs from the FSB, that will give you some room to put that Q9450 @ 3.8GHz

By that I assume you use DDR2.

Product Page here:

But honestly, most of the products on the below page would suit you well.

I didnt see a memory unilnk anywhere in the bios. Not sure if x38 can do it, or if this board can do it.

i got 3.4 on mine and have room to keep going. BUT im not going to.....yet
:-P

also got my 4870s overclocked quite a bit with this new fan hack that has me idling at 46 celcius and loading at 70 I got plenty of headroom for OCing!!!!

anyhow nice OC. I was hoping to do a suicide run at 533x8 so i could do a 1:! ratio but I dont trust this cooler. Maybe ill yank my dtek fuzion out of my other rig and see what i can get

btw do you have the c1 stepping? I have it and this chip seems magical and golden. 3.4@ 1.24 vcore on air is super sick

Dang, unlinking the RAMs from the FSB can make wonders when OCing

EDIT:
3.52 with only 1.275v on the BIOS? Thats great, that gave me an idea on how far I can get mine to, that 3.6GHz I got to was a "quick" OC to benchmark and I had set the BIOS to 1.3125v vdroop to 1.280v, and it ran quite stable after a couple of 3DMark06 runs. But it heats up alot during 8k FFTs, it easily hits over 70C. Poor Zalman 9500 can't handle 1GHz overclock lol
