On the Intel board note, some have problems oc'ing but is usually not the motherboard's fault. In most cases, they need either a bios update or frequency/voltage tweak (minor problems but sometimes trivial). The current board you have (DP35DP) isn't exactly overclock material but you can bump your CPU a fair bit. I'd say 2.8GHz for the start with your current cooler (if its not too warm already). I do recommend though, that you research more into overclock before getting into it. Placing a too high voltage can damage/fry your chip, too low and you have an unstable system that'll either not boot at all (not enough to power the CPU) or BSOD as soon as there is insufficient power. You also need to be extremely patient with your system (not all are the some). Some CPUs overclock a lot better than others (and I'm talking about the exact same model and brand, just varies). Some CPUs can't overclock properly if they're silicon lives depended on it. You will encounter many problems/kinks along the way that need fixing (so don't be surprised that your system just BSOD randomly when OC'ed). Not trying to scare you from it, but it's the truth. Best way to start is making a new thread and say exactly what you want out of your system (give as much information about your system specifications as possible). I'm sure the wonderful people here on Overclock.net can help you out heaps. ![]() P.S. Note: It is always safer underpower (too low voltage) a CPU than overpower (too high voltage) a CPU. Low Voltage is no harm done. You can always then go back and increase it, if needed.

Oh,
__________________well, i havnt fired it up yet, as i havnt got the PSU yet! itll be here tomorrow! and i fully plan on OC'ing it to the MAX. we'll see what we get to, when its time! (Fingers((and toes))crossed to get to 4.0)! ![]() EDIT-------------------------- Well guys, i got my new build all together! and wow, the difference with the q6600 and the GTX 295 is incredible, over my 'ol E6600 and GTS 8800 OC!! after installing windows 7 ultimate, and tweaking the Bios on the P5Q-Turbo as much as possible, i have settled on 3.6 ghz, so far. i had it running at 3.84 but encountered some stability issues..... im not impressed with 3.6 as the final clock. there has to be a way for me to get 3.85 - 4.0 on this chip!! the P5Q-Turbo has all kinds of added stuff in the bios, over my 'ol P5B Plus, that im not sure of what to set !! I likes the simplicity of the P5B-Plus! and the temps, under load at this time is around 48-50 C with 1.336 Vcore (in cpu-z).... im gonna look around for info on the P5B-turbo series and what others are using for settings.... if i have to get different ram to achieve the clock i want, ill do it at this time, as im building an HTPC system with the P56B-Plus/E6600/600W Cooler Master extreme power duo anyways, and ive ordered a Radeon HD 4650 1 Ghz HDMI card for that build already, the 4 gigs of OCZ platinum will work well with it anyways.... I wonder what ram would work best for me on this build, and my pursuit for the best clock possible? Crucial Ballistix? and, should i stay with PC 6400 or should i go higher? my pursuit for a higher clock is this, i had my E6600 @ 3.6 and i wanna see a higher clock on bootup!!!! Id love to see 4.0 ghz, but even 3.85 or 3.9 would be satisfactory! i mean, i got the G0 stepping chip, and a HK 3.0 waterblock already, so it should be there for me.... i really like the GTX 295 as well, and the Corsair 750W power supply is awesome as well, lots of power options, and nice clean power! its really quiet as well. i want 4.0!

Add me, I got a 2.4ghz Q6600 G0 at stock clocks and stock voltages, very stable. Add me, how do you oc it btw? I would like to get it to 2.5 or 2.6ghz like a 200mhz oc.
