Hi guys, I'm new to this increase the voltage thing. I have a 1.325VID E4500 (200x11). It remained stable at 2.93ghz (266x11) with 1.35V in the BIOS. But to get it stable at 3.0ghz (300x10), I had to bump it to 1.3625V in the BIOS.
__________________So I got two questions. When you guys say "a little" voltage, how much is that for 1.325VID processor? I'm on air cooling, so I assume it can't be too much. My second question, is the jump from 2.93 to 3.00 natural? It's hard to imagine a mere 70mhz increase would need two additional notches in vcore.

For your 65nm E4500, 1.5v is the max I would go with air cooling, 1.55-1.6v with water.

There's no definitive answer to what is "a little" voltage for a particular processor, it's all dependent on your chip. Since we know you don't want to go over 1.5V Vcore because you're on air, the next thing is to bump up your Vcore to a point where you feel comfortable with your temperatures. I'd stay under 65C while stressing Prime95, although you can take it to 70C realistically. For your second question, again, it all depends on your processor. Each one is different. It could be that your motherboard has a lot of vdroop. Or your processor isn't so adept to overclocking. I would suggest bumping up your Vcore, test for stability and watch for temps, and keep doing that cycle while watching for the 1.5V Vcore limit and 70C temps.

I just try to get FSB as high as possible while still POSTing before proceeding to the time consuming stability tests.

i would say 1.4 is safe and 1.5 is your limit. anymore u need water cooling or dry ice.

1.5v may be the max voltage BUT ur max temp is only 70C, so watch out for that... whichever u hit first is ur max...

My max temp is only around 45 degrees when running prime95.
__________________surprisingly, Intel TAT puts it at 55 degrees, i've never seen it run that high on anything else edit: okay nvm, 300x10 just refuses to be stable. I'm forced to use 266x11 for now, no idea why would it do that.
