Talking 4ghz on stock!

Well...my new mobo and cpu turned up today and after a little troubleshooting as to why it wouldn't boot i fixed the problem, didn't like my dvd drive on ide for some reason, so i put an ide>sata adaptor on it and its working great.

Then after a little more playing around i got to 4ghz on STOCK cooling with AS5 (plus 3 case fans). Running fine so far with minimal load. Not even gonna try stressing it on stock at this speed.

But this mobo/cpu definately has some potential and i'll surely push it as far as i can.

For some reason the cpuz validator is rejecting it so heres a screenie.

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=538141

Now i just have to pick a new Heatsink to buy seeing as the intel mounting for my Freezer Extreme sucks and one of the little pushpin things broke

Anyone have any recommendations?

4GHz on stock voltage? Nice Maybe that's why CPU-Z rejects, I wonder if it thinks achieving 1GHz OC on stock voltage is unreasonable.

Still need to find a "mother" for this loner. Freebie ftw

It will most likely be in a future HTPC/folding rig.

From what I've managed to get, it most likely has a vID of 1.185v (lucky) with a C0 stepping . I wonder how far I can push this one on my rig...

You could go for a TRUE, they're expensive but they're really worth it.

4GHz on stock...nice! I got mine to boot at 4.140GHz on stock, but it was an instant BSOD. I'm currently at hour 17 of Prime95...4.050GHz @ 1.30625v. At this speed and voltage, I'm maxing out at about 56C with my Tuniq Tower. Since you're looking for a new cooler, I'd highly recommend it to you. Newegg has it for $50 without the LEDs and $55 with the LEDs. Both have free shipping to the Lower 48.

Here's another big thumbs up for the Tuniq 120. I lucked out and got a used one on eBay for $25 that was lapped! Keeps my 4Ghz OC at 25C idle and 45-50C on load....AWESOME!

grishkathefool - 3.6GHz @ 1.152v Proof? 3.87GHz @ 1.84v Proof 3.87 Q842A1 B3

You wanted the CPU-Z Vcore, right? In the BIOS, I set it to 1.1875v and CPU-Z shows it as 1.152v and for 3.87 set at 1.2125v gave me 1.84v.

Thanks

@Ladiesman,

If you read the very first post, you will see the format for entry. That is to say, Pepsi asks that you make a post like this:

where the link is a link to photobucket or some other place where you have hosted a picture of your desktop showing a CPU-Z display.
