hi, i am upgrading my comp
__________________these two are petty same price now.. $380 for QX6850 $394 for Q9550 which is better for me i am gonna use it more than 2 years or wait for price drop?

The QX6850?

Most people would say Q9550 cause it's 45nm, new stepping, better OCing and has newer tech.
I still like the QX6860 though

im sure he means QX6850. its a tough one. the QX6850 should hit 3.8-4ghz with r8 air cooling, and the Q9550 might. the 9550s 5% better clock 4 clock, it really up to u.

Right.
The problem with the QX6850 is that due to its 65nm core, it runs hotter than any other newer chip. Air cooling would be challenged to sustain 4ghz with it. The Q9550 tops out at about 3.8 depending on the motherboard and actually runs cooler (at on par clocks) to the QX. I had both the QX6850 and the QX9650. The QX9650 easily did 4ghz on air. The QX6850, the best I could do with a lapped TRUE was 3.85 or so before temps got out of control.
