Default inaccurate everest/speedfan temps

so i was running prime95 for about 3 hours and keeping an eye on my temps. i had everest, speedfan for my fan control and coretemp open just to check against everything. everything looked good and then i noticed something. speedfan had my nb at 99c which i normally ignore because its always sitting at -17c. (im assuming my sensor is messed up)

then i saw my cpu temp (not core) at 108c. both speedfan and everest reported this. i freaked and killed prime and shut it down to cool. cores were running at 58c under full load @ 3h+. cpu is underwater.

q6600 @ 1.40v 3.51ghz
680i
fsb volt 1.4v
mcp 1.5v

just wanted to get an opinon on what i should do with this problem. i cant get the voltage down any lower. prime95 fails within minutes.
is speedfan and everest accurate?

ok everything is loaded back up.

speedfan/everest/coretemp all read the same for the cores
#0 - 34c
#1 - 34c
#2 - 28c
#3 - 24c
all idle

speedfan/everest read the same for the cpu temp. i know that is not the temp to go by but either my sensor is messed up or speedfan/everest were wrong. just out of no where it jumped up like that.
idle cpu temp 30c

There are sometimes sensor glitches when speedfan or everest monitor temps. Same thing happened to mine (my case temp went from 38C to -17C). A quick reboot will (most likely) refresh those sensors. If this problem keeps on occuring, probably you have bad sensors.

yeah my nb sensor has been like that for a while.
one last question would be is it safe to ignore that cpu sensor (108c) and just strictly look at the cores?

I think this is a problem with speedfan not getting along with vista 64. I dual boot with XP and Vista 64, so I know it is not my hardware messing up. In XP speedfan is fairly close to realtemp, and speedfan shows my GPU temp as well. In vista 64 speedfan tells me my CPU temp is 10C (hmmm, did vista OC my heatsink?) and does not show my GPU at all. Sometimes speedfan will show 100, or -100 degrees as well. Just use coretemp or realtemp and you will be fine

Also, if prime is failing in a few minutes, you need to either up the volts or lower your overclock. I think the maximum safe voltage for this chip is 1.5, and the maximum load temp is 70C. I would keep it under that if you want your chip to last. If your temps get to high, you could lap your CPU and waterblock, but this will void any warranty you may have left.
