Yeah, the older versions of prime95 were but the newer versions are all multithreaded meaning you can open up multiple threads in a single session hence the pic with prime recognizing both of my cores on my E8400. You don't have to run multiple instances of Prime unless you have an ancient version. It also recognizes all cores on my q6600 when I had it up and running notice you can pick how many torture test threads too run.

By all means correct me if I'm wrong its just that it really doesn't look or act like a single threaded app.

Edit: I think they started doing multi-threaded versions at or around version 25.1

using dial-up? High-Speed is not avalible in my area! (Only in City Limits of Camdenton is high-speed)
