Edit: I didn't like the nvidia chipsets, so I must have missed the uproar

I have the same mobo as this person who doesnt know anything and in cpu-z it also says i have either a 680 or 650 chipset. the msi p7n platinum is actually a 750i chipset. i have no idea why cpu-z says otherwise.

What cooler are you using on the chip?

I think its a liquid cooler, it came with my P7n SLI platinum Mobo. Somtimes the cpu temp goes up to 30*c but mostly its going to be like 27-30*C

Again we could use more details cause those temps could skyrocket depending on the cooler you are using. Liquid cooling systems don't come with motherboards...(if we were only so lucky).
I guess the first thing you could try your hand at is going into the bios and bumping your fsb by say 20? to start to see some OCing but more tweeking will be required soon.

Frankly, an OC like that is not going to happen on your motherboard.
__________________There are only a handful of boards than can push a Yorkfield (45nm quad) to 485MHz FSB. To the best of my knowledge, the MSI 750i is not one of them. Regardless, you would need some of the best air cooling out to deal with the heat at that voltage and speed. Also, only the very best example of the Q9450s will clock that high on air. My better Xeon (best of two) X3350, could probably do it stably with a TRUE and a good fan, but past 3.7GHz the heat overwhelms my Xigmatek, and this cooler is significantly better than the stock cooler you've said you are using. In short: - I do not think such an OC is even possible on your MSI 750i motherboard. - Even if it was, your cooling is woefully inadequate. - A 50% OC on a quad is extremely ambitious for a first time OC.

Well perhaps its best to learn by doing but first, Do you know where your CMOS jumber is? (someone asked this already with no response)
Incase your system locks up you may need to use this jumper. As the guy in the video stated not all systems are the same and cooling is vital. 485mhz seems like alot for a quad (atleast for the 65nm's) and I don't know how well 750i (the northbridge on your motherboard) take to high fsb's. Maybe you should take a look at this until someone with more experience with your system specs comes in.

You THINK it's a liquid cooler?? Take a picture of it.
