I have old 17" crt and somethimes when my roommate at college is home and I am not I am using his 19" widscrenn LCD , but resolution does not affect my performance also

Try playing at your monitors highest resolution to make the game more GPU Dependant -- Add some anti-aliasing. Even then, the higher quality physics may still bottleneck your CPU.

My P4 650 which I got running at 4.0GHz is good but still not great... looking forward to a decent CPU (E8400)

highest resolution my monitor can handle is 1600x1200 it does not affect the performance a lot ..

C2D's are roughly twice as efficient as a P4, so even a 2Ghz dual core would be twice as fast as yours.

P4's CANNOT HANDLE THESE GAMES you can play them. but you really expect a 541 P4 to run them well? dude you are completely bottlenecked, hell pick up a Pentium D and it will go faster.

dont exactly know the motherboard model but I think he uses Gigabyte 8I915P Ultra , 2gb ddr400mhz ram , 8800 gt graphic and he also have p4 , but not the same model as me but dont know which exactly only know he have only 3ghz ...
mabye I have those problems because of my motherboard support my cpu since F6 version of bios so it might be some preblem there, but not sure of it
