i was going off of the P5N-E SLI in your sig. if you have another rig with an intel chipset then 4.0GHz should be much easier.

Let me know how you do. I can't get mine stable above 450 fsb @8.5
I've gotten it stable for 15 IBT runs and 6hrs of prime blend test @465 fsb but then I go to play EQ2 and the system freezes randomly after 1-2 hrs.

I know it's not my ram. Did 9 hr run of memtest86 v3.4 overnight with 8 full run passes and no errors. I'm thinking it's the mobo b/c 1.25v bios for vcore works fine for 450 fsb and no matter what I do it won't stay stable at 4.0ghz and crashes eq2 at 3.96ghz.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Is it possible the video card could be causin me to lock up at higher fsb on the mobo for some reason? I have no clue what the problem could be since it passes prime blend and IBT. Highest temp 62 with IBT running.

got my q9550 yay. but man quite disapointed i think i need a better heatsink big typhoon not doing too much. or maybe shud wait till the tim settles. btw anyone know why when i do msconfig and choose to boot with # of processors it only shows 2? thanks.
i dont know why core temp shows it as a e8300 lol!

finally got my Q9550 today!

when i first booted up my PC i forgot to reset my bios settings. so this baby first booted up with 472 x 8 = 3.722 (something like that) with 1.34 vcore. well it posted but it never went past the bios screen.

well anyways i took the battery out and that reset the BIOS for me.

so does this have any potential of damaging my new 9550 or what??? cuz when i first saw it i was scared ****less. im only using the stock HSF too for now.

i did manage to get it to 3.10 ghz with 1.15 vcore after so i think that pretty darn good.
