So I got my 4.0 ghz stable with a lower voltage.

gonna do more tweaks and get the 4.1 or 4.2 100% stable , i trimmed on the CPU Termination to 1.2-1.3 and it keeps crashing. 1.38V crashed @ 3.5 hours. Now trying 1.4V FSB termination. No need to update me, I'll give u a final one in 1-2 days.

Here's my proof http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=475610

Just dropped the voltage a bit. Now she is purring along at 1.27vcore gona see if I can drop her more..Also Loadline Cal is on. This CPU does not need voltage to run 3.8 or 3.91.. Now 4Ghz it might need a little bit but I believe its more motherboard tuning than cpu vCore.

I just cant seam to get her happy at 4ghz though. No matter what I do it locks up after a bit in windows. Will keep tweeking it and see what happens. What other tweeks in this board are usefull to get this thing stable. CPU VCore is not what these cpu's need to be stable. And the NB alone is already where it needs to be I believe @ 1.49V which also might be a tad high.

*Update*

Got her to 4ghz with a little tweek of the FSB Term Voltage (put it at 1.40v) and wamo. Now I have been more stable then I have ever been at 4ghz so far. Put the CPU Vcore at 1.35 ~ 1.336 in windows. Will probably trim that back a little.

Nice work! I had the same issue, the only fixing it was turning up the FSB to 1.4. It cranks up the heat, but it's the only way it was stable. I'm shocked that this board would go this high on FSB though, it wouldn't with my Q6700. Strangely enough, this chip has more problems with vcore being too high than other chips I've had. Have you messed with GTLREF at all?

Got a little update. Still am not 100% stable at 4Ghz but its getting there. Now I have the Vcore to 1.325 (1.3 windows) and finally got through a run of 3dmark vantage. Whats bothering me now Is something else on the board needs tweeking. I have the CPU able to run for hours on a Orthos or Prime test. But when the graphics card comes into the equasion in any 3d test it seams that is where the system then crashes. Also its been a while but I can hear my comp think so to speak through my speakers. Havent had that happen except what you hear from your graphics card when its under load.

Ive added a bit more volts to the NB and am playing with the other settings. I believe my ram and such is where it should be but now its just getting everything to run smoothly with the right ammount of voltage. Anyone else have any good tweeking ideas to do with the GTL or something else on this board.

One cheat I can check to see if I am stable or not is the 2nd (space test) in 3DMark Vantage. Near the end where the fighters are flying toward the planet, the exhaust from the lead ship the camera is viewing will have blue blotches sometimes appear/dance in front of the ship and whatnot. Like there are math errors on where that particle should be located in the scene. When my comp is 100% stable these do not appear.

Got 3DMark Vantage to run a complete run with a NB Volts at 1.51v. Its running a tad hot for my liking though so I either need to back it down a tad or get me a NB fan or something. the temps do not climb fast but they do climb. (69C after the whole 3DMark Run.)

Its still showing those blue blotches of spacetrail in front of the fighters on the end scene so I need to find a way to get her a tad more stable..

Damn. After about 5 hours of tweeking and testing I just cannot get the system to stay stable at 4.04ghz. I can either run 3dmark vantage all the way through but get errors in orthos. or run orthos and crash 3dmark vantage.. Nuts lol.

Maybe ill try more voltage in the future but I shall return to my stable 3.84ghz with a low vcore of 1.27v and call it good for now.

I know you're settling for 3.84 now, but I wanted to make sure that you didn't go that high on the FSB again. Anything over 1.4 is said to be extremely bad for the 45nm quads. As for your either/or situation, it sounds to me like either your PSU is too weak, or you have too much on one rail of the PSU.
