antimatter, set your CPU and NB clock skew to 'Normal' they seem to work best for most overclocks on this board. Also set the CPU Margin Enhancement to 'Compatible'.
What you want to do is set : PLL '1.50 to 1.56v' Vcore to '1.3625v' FSB Termination to '1.30v' NB to '1.38v' GTL Ref at 'Auto' Both the Spread Sprectrums 'Disabled'. That should get you stable on 3.8ghz. Edit : Finally you could try flashing one of Ket's modded bioses. I personally use 1613m.

no go.
Ran 1 run of memtest at default settings (ddr2-800), 1 run with ddr2-1066 at 5-5-5-15. passed each time. Increased settings and values (a second time) as you posted above, with one notch higher voltages but 400 fsb. Freeze after 8sec of Linx. Rebooted into Memtest, crashed during test. board not good enough? CPU from bad batch? RAM? (I noticed the RAM isn't on the QVL, but a near identical set is (only difference being the qvl set is SLI ready - which is odd, since it's a crossfire board).

Do the same thing with multi of 6 and fsb of 400. NB 1.34 or 1.36. Try and come back to us

I thought it was going smoothly. ~10 minutes of Prime95 went great. Then it reboot itself. And now again, right after login. Argggh. NB too hot? Even though TM disabled? Or something else fishy/RMA ready?
edit: or PSU? which would suck, since it's not modular (part of case) (didn't know that until after I bought it). edit2: I've got the latest BIOS from Asus - should I tempt myself with one of those modded bioses from ket?

I would think your PSU is fine, you are hardly stressing it with a Q9550 and a HD3450. I don't understand why you can't get a better overclock
. I mean I know for a fact that mobo can take a quad to 450fsb atleast. It seems really weird that your computer is rebooting so much. If my overclock isn't stable it just fails tests, barely ever reboots. I would have said it was the RAM, but you said it passed MemTest. I doubt the NB is overheating, you could try sitting a fan on top if just to see. Why don't you try flashing to one of Ket's modded bioses, its not as scary as it used to be and the P5Q Pro has 2 bios chips so you just swap if it fails .

nice OC Betrivent!
Here's a picasa web gallery of my setup and a few screenshots. What's frustrating is that this rig might be able to made stable for 3D rendering, but not prime95 stable. But I don't want floating point errors from frames rendered on this rig to not look right with frames rendered on the q6600 (would cause flickering of the video). So it's gotta be stable. http://picasaweb.google.com/deschnel...pAndOverclock# I'll try the modded BIOS in a bit and post back. (luckily I've got a Macbook Pro that just works for me, plus the q66, which is turned off for now - so I can still get online etc).

updated to 2002m modded bios. logged in with defaults just fine, ran prime for a few minutes, everything seemed fine.
Then I changed to 450 with 1.32 vcore, 1.34 fsb, 1.34 nb, and ddr2-1080 or so dram with 2.2v for dram. after entering login for vista, I get a windows activation error stating license details don't match. crap microsoft. edit: if anyone wants to chat via skype, ichat or aim, or gtalk regarding this, shoot me a PM. edit2: activation issue no longer... things that make you go hmmmm..

3.1ghz @ 366x8.5 with volts at 1.28 (I think... can't remember) and fsb/nb at 1.34 each. (I think.. didn't write them down).
Anyway - ran 10 runs of linx ok. Max temp on two of the cores was 65. I'll reseat the HSF soon I think - hopefully I can find my AS5 tube. It's running Prime95 right now - so far so good. (Only been a few minutes - which is better than average). A couple new pics in that picasaweb album from post above. Maybe I'm getting something. Maybe I just need ridiculous voltage for the higher clocks (and therefore better cooling/or keep it low).
