Default Wow Josh81...

I need to try your settings... I have same MB, CPU, CPU cooler as you but 3.4GHz is all I can get at stock BIOS settings. I have been hesitant to go higher as I thought my 48-50 C temps were too warm already!

Now I see you have the Antec 900 which is an awesome case for air cooling, so I must ask... what temps are you getting at idle and load? What ambient air/room temp?

Waiting for an important delivery sux eh?

No, my xigmatek is stock (intel style) push pins. The bracket on the underside of MB makes a big difference??? Is this the one?

Your temps at 4GHz are similar to my temps at 3.6 GHz! But my case isn't as great a cooler as the Antec 900, and I am still at stock voltages.

I tried your settings and my system refused to boot!

I thinking of upgrading my current 3.2ghz e6750 to a q9550.. Would I see a huge improvement in games like ARMA 2, Crysis etc? And is it my e6750 bottlenecking my GPU?

you will in crysis for sure. but not too many games yet are utilizing all 4 cores. you will however notice a big difference in video/audio encoding times and other multitasking applications.

Hey guys

I'm considering replacing my E5200 with one of the 12mb cache quads. Probably Q9550 cuz its price/speed ratio is OK, and it should OC well... right? Q9650 is a bit too much for my wallet to handle...

So what i wanted to ask is, how do i proceed if i want to buy a real good Q9550 that OC's like hell? I mean revisions, batches, dates, actually any info that would help me pick a good one?

But since im not in the US/EU please don't tell me the names of the store i could buy it cheap at... So all i really need is the info, and not the recommendations for stores/ebay/forum traders that sell them since im unable to buy from them

Also i have a lapped Thermalright HR-01 Plus (110CFM-2400rpm fan, OCZ Freeze Extreeme TC), you think that qualifies for running Q9550 at ~4ghz? I also have a very well ventilated CM690... 5 fans now, 3 in backup...

Tnx a lot fellas, cheers

you want an E0 revision Q9550 for good ocing. the s-spec is SLB8V. so any pack date that is after 1/21/09 will yield a fairly low vid E0 revision Q9550 that will oc like a champ. they are starting to go for around $230 USD here so you should hopefully find one thats not too expensive in serbia. as far as your cooler it should be fine for a quad at 4GHz, only thing i could forsee you needing would be a push-pull setup on it but thats it. hope this info helps
