HI,

I am having the same problem, and it started 5 days ago. My computer is XP professional with SP 2. Did any one of you find the solution?? Please post it if so.

Is this the same test you ran skoops?

My PC still freezes whislt in diagnostic mode.

I have a new hard drive and memory coming soon today so I am going to test installing windows on the new drive and see what happens.

It seems weird that some people are having the same problem, though I haven't been blocked access to any programs, my PC runs normal except the fact that it now crashes.

In the future sometime, people will be able to fix this kinda stuff without all this hassle. We'll be the old farts saying back in the day, we had to virus scan, test temperature, run hijack this, do system restores, run memtest86, run chkdsk etc...
Ahh okay, I had made a call to Sony and I am having a technician come to my house (it is part of my 4 year warranty), and they are bringing new memory / RAM.

Let us know if the new memory does anything to fix the problem.

Although I am still convinced that this is some type of virus, since it is happening to so many people at once. We'll see though.

Another victim of the "virus", welcome to the club.

Mine started just about 5 days ago as well.

Currently, there is no true fix fix for it as of yet. Hopefully something will come up soon.

Same thing here...
Was working / browsing the web (using chrome) and on april 5th the PC shut down by itself.
After slooow restart, Windows messenger was crashing, and it does the freezing/beeping randomly after a while (between 1 min and 1h30 usually). Mouse still moves though.
Booting in safe mode without network is fine (ran for several hours, so it's not a hardware issue)
Safe mode with network freezes (even with ethernet cable unplugged !)

Okay, so I ran the disk check test, and it said that my disk was clean.

Didn't fix anything :/

I also ran the disk check test, froze just a few minutes after the check was done.

Hey guys

An Update:

I just installed my new hard drive and memory and everything seems to be working ok now. Been working well over an hour with everything going as I normally would.

I put both my new ram and hard drive in, so I don't know if it's the hard drive or memory.

If you can afford to, I suggest formatting and installing windows again, since windows recovery didn't work for me and I had way too much data to back up and it would keep crashing.

I'm going to stick my other ram in and see if it crashes, if it doesn't then i'm going to put my old hard drives in and try copy across as many files as I can.
