Ok inside the Bios there's the options at the top. The advanced tab is what your looking for. In there is the AI tuning option, that needs to be set to manual. From there you enter the FSB & Memory config option. Set FSB - memory clock mode to Unlinked. Then set FSB (QDR) to 1333. Then set Memory (DDR) to 800. Leaving the Vcore Voltage setting on auto might set the vcore kinda high, but that's where testing the overclock and lowering it until it's unstable comes into play. Hope that helps, GL!

3Ghz is not too difficult of an OC to get on a Q6600...so I'm sure you will be fine. The whole point of making the stop at the 2.7Ghz interval is to just test for stability. Chances are...you could jump straight to 3.0Ghz, but it's always a good idea to slowly increase to the desired settings. That way - if you run into a problem, or if temps are a problem - you have a better idea of where the problem is.

Do that... and while you're at it... discover the Rep+ button. You've gotten a lot of advice here... and as a new user... you've yet to give a virtual "thank you" to anyone.

So it looks like your computer is not stable at those speeds. I am not familiar with your board's bios.

Can someone confirm that the memory setting is 800Mhz, which is actually 1600Mhz actual rate (because it is Double Data Rate ram). Try setting ram to 400Mhz. That is the first thing i would try.

Other than that, you have 2 options:
1. Up the voltage
2. Reduce the FSB OC amount

I know mine is different from yours. My chipset overclocks the CPU via Bus speed, and not FSB frequency. I set 378Mhz Bus speed, and a Multiplier of 9x to get 378 x 9 = 3402Mhz or 3.40Ghz.

I am currently looking online to see if they have screenshots of the BIOS for your board.

Ya, after looking at screenshots of your bios, I think you had the correct settings. Looks like you will have to start upping the voltage in the bios. The Vendetta 2 should be able to sufficiently cool the chip so it's safe to do so.
I would try the settings you mentioned before, then go to the Extreme tweaker page in your bios, and set Vcore to 1.35 to 1.4V, and Memory Voltage to 1.8 to 2.1 (depending on what your ram is rated for).
Try that and let me know how it works.
