Maybe try going to the Asus website and updating to the newest bios for your board. Then, maybe try a smaller OC , like 1200 FSB to ge 2.7Ghz.

Well, I would suggest this board: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128358
It is currently the absolute BEST for overclocking the Q6600 right now, and everybody who has a quad should get this board. But the thing is, you are from India so I do not know the price this board is, so I need you to go find it.

A good overclocking board, will have even more tuning options, so if a 650i is too technical for you then another board, like a UD3P will even confuse you more. My recommendation is to do the incremental QDR increase, test each time you increase. That way you have more control over the bus speed you've increased and what voltages you may need to increase. This also will be more stable, because an incremental increase will at least boot up, and not just give you a blank screen. Good luck.

Look - The board is not the best at overclocking quads, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the board. Try small changes and work your way from there. Let's figure out how much of an OC we can really get out of this setup before we go trade it in for something else. You said yesterday that you were going to use it for gaming...even a slight overclock will get you some good results. Let's 1st get this board back to stock settings. Load the defaults and clear the CMOS so we know we are working with a clean slate. Now lets run a prime run for a little while to make sure the 1.9V electrocution you applied hasn't caused any damage. Now...lets start making increases at increments of 11 FSB. Each increase should be just about 100Mhz. Let's take this from 267 up to 278 (278 x 9 = 2.5Ghz). Does it boot? Can you run Prime? If so - then lets kick it up another 11 FSB. Test Again. Let's try and figure out exactly where this board is limiting you. If you still want to get a new board, that's fine...but I ran a 680i SE SLI for over a year without being able to OC past 2.7GHz and I still loved it.

um...DDR is designed to run with 1.8 - 2.1V, so 1.9 is right in that range, and its safe. wats wrong with that?
