it's controversial. I think most people would agree that LLC enabled for 1.3625v or LOWER is best, while LLC past 1.3625v most people see as just asking for chip degradation.

I have to use LLC quite simply because it's more stable that way. LLC < 1.3625v is fine. All it does is improve vdroop and cirumvent intel's throttling specification

So armed with LCC, if i set 1.3v for it to be stable but it vdroops to around 1.216v, i can set something like 1.225v as the voltage and it will be 100% stable?

Anandtech doesn't like LLC, but personally I think there's nothing wrong with it. Many high overclocks (4+ GHZ at high voltage) require it.

with LLC you'll see a bit more control on the vcore you set.

For example with LLC enabled, I set 1.35v in BIOS and get 1.31v under load.

That's .04v droop which is pretty darn good.

And that's what I use for 4.2GHz 24/7

This I say... QFT.

You simply need the extra oomph of the LLC.

Ok, at 3.51ghz and 1.23vcore I froze once and blue screened the second time. I bumped up the vcore to 1.25 in cpu-z, NB 1.4, SB 1.35, VTT 1.2, and now it is stable after 6 minutes of small ffts. Now I'm gonna try 3.6ghz!

Arrrrg, this chip sucks. It took 1.344vcore to pass ten minutes of line pack, then I tried 4ghz and it took 1.385vcore to boot into windows, and failed line pack after one minute!!!!!

I once had a E5200 that wouldn't even do 3.5GHz @ 1.3625v

q9650 and q9550 are the exact same except 0.5 multiplier right. If I were to trade this chip for a q9550 that clocks to 4ghz, it would be the same right?

This dumb q9650 will only get to about 3.6 with safe volts. Maybe 3.8, but that would be pushin' it since 3.6 takes 1.344vcore.
