This dumb q9650 will only get to about 3.6 with safe volts. Maybe 3.8, but that would be pushin' it since 3.6 takes 1.344vcore.
Q9650 is stock at 3.0GHz (333x9) whereas Q9550 is stock at 2.83GHz (333x8.5) and can be either C1 or E0. Make sure you trade it for an E0 if you do get it.

Also, all Q9650's are guaranteed E0's, whereas Q9550's aren't

Yeah, the guy I wanna trade with has an E0 q9550, but I need to find out his batch number and check here on ocn to see if it's good. Is is brand new and un-opened, and a few days ago he was gonna sell it for $225. If he sold it to me and wouldn't trade, do you think I would be able to sell my used oem q9650 with a crap vid for at least $225? Hmmm... I hope so, cuz I might as well have gotten a proven q6600 for cheaper, then this peice of poo!

Hmm... if the guy has a good chip still available and won't trade, I might grab it and then sell this peice of junk on ocn when I get enough rep. If not, then I will cut my losses and sell this chip on craigslist for $215. That way I will break even, cuz I had to drive a long way to pick it up and use gas. I just hope he doesn't see the chip he just sold me back up for sale.

Honestly mate, batch numbers are meaningless. In any particular batch there will be CPU's with good VID's and bad VID's. VID's are all that matter.

Ebay is your friend. I'm sure that you will get more for money for it there. It's not ocn and shoppers aren't savvy enough that you probably won't have to provide extra info(vid,batch#,etc) to make the sale at current competitive price.

hm this makes me feel a little better about my q9650. it took 1.344v to get it stable at 4ghz. i'm happy enough with it though. running load at 50c now
