I just got a q9650 off this guy for $200 bucks, and it turns out to be 1.3VID. Oh well, right now at 1.25vcore at stock it hasn't gone above 43C during small ffts. I will try overclocking it. I hope I can get 4ghz without too high volts and temps.Wish me luck, please!!!!

Don't worry man. I run my 1.2375 VID Q9550 at 1.15V 24/7. Just undervolt it.

yeah, for me the furthest I could undervolt / highest clock was 3.8GHz on 1.18v (my VID is 1.20v)
but I wouldn't doubt that I could undervolt even more with less clock..

Ok, so far so good. I am overclocked to 3.375ghz at 1.23vcore and I have passed 4 minutes of small ffts with a max temp of 45C. I am gonna see if I can push a little futher to 3.5ghz at the same volts. C'mon 4ghz!

Try and go as low as you can with vcore and see where it takes you for a 1GHz overclock at 3.8GHz. You may be able to do it with stock volts or lower. After you set it in BIOS, boot back up and do 10 Loops of Intel Burn Test on Maximum. You will know then if it's stable... Oh and don't worry too much about temps -- it's more cpu intensive

to help with some vdroop try enabling Load Line Calibration.
Just try not to set more than 1.3625v in Windows.. though
