Default Unsure which to buy! Q9550 or Q9650

Hey,
So i've bought a new motherboard - EVGA 790i Ultra FTW (Digital Version) and it doesn't seem to like my q6700 as I'm hitting problems when overclocking past 3.5ghz (even though my P5N-D handled 3.8).

So i've considered buying either the Q9550 or the Q9650.

I can get the Q9550 for £200 and the Q9650 for about £290.

If the extra £90 really worth it?

If I was to buy the cheaper, I would also turn my Tuniq into a TRUE.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Ta.

Personally I don't find the £90 extra worth it. Both CPU's can hit 4.0Ghz if your mobo will allow it.

What he said.

Theres no point IMO. Its the main reason I went for an E8400. Not worth the price increase at all.

Definitely not worth 45% more only to receive a rather small increase in speed.Spend the money elsewhere

Thanks for the replies - seems as though most are leaning towards the 9550 which is nice for my wallet

Thanks

If 3.8G or 4G is the goal, the Q9550 should be fine in this case.

I have to go with Q9550, I couldn't recommend the Q9650 since it would not be sane to get it at that price difference.

Get yourself the Q9550, spend the rest on... food or something.
