Hey, I have a deal set up currently with a member on the forum to get an E8400 that does 4.0 stable on 1.28v...I know, a good chip indeed.
However, would this Q6700 on ewiz be a better choice? http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=Q6700 I would be pairing this with an IP35-E motherboard, which overclock quads OK but not great...with the 10x multi of the Q6700, though, I could probably get a pretty decent overclock even if my board can't hit a high fsb. So what would you do...get the guaranteed 4.0ghz 8400 or gamble a bit and get this 65nm quad core with a 10x multi?

Unless they have some old Q6700's on hand the later ones that were produced were very similar to the late Q6600's and didn't yeild the greatest results for the most part.

Perhaps you should put up a poll. I say E8400, but yeah I have one.

I voted for E8400 but if it was a Q9550 it would have been a totally different thing

Poll added.
The reason for this question is that I recently built a Phenom II rig for a friend with an X4 940 and an 8800GT...I played CSS on that rig at 1680x1050 with the quad at 3.5G and the 8800GT overclocked and, to my dismay/surprise, it outperformed my E6400 3.3G + 4890 sig rig. CSS is the game I play far more than any other, and obviously I don't need a quad core for it, but it seemed to boost performance a ton and since more games are starting to take advantage of multiple cores I was just wondering what my options are here.
