Default First overclock, have a few questions

Ok I just started on my first overclock, well obviously first I wanted to see how far I could get on stock voltages so I bumped up the FSB a little and took my e8400 from 3.0 to 3.24 (360x9), just wanted to do it little by little. Ran OCCT for an hour and never went over 42*. So I thought I'd bump it up to (400x9) 3.6 so I did booted fine ran OCCT for another hour and never went over 47*. Sound good so far to you guys?

Now to get to my real question is, that after I bumped it up to 3.6 I noticed when I was running OCCT that OCCT and CPUZ said that my Vcore was at 1.31v, why is that? because I never touched to voltage.

Now after you answer those questions, what should I do next to get too 4.0ghz stable?

When you say "it never went over 47*...is "it" cpu temp or core temp?

Make sure your vcore isnt on auto in BIOS. That's the only reason I can think of it automatically raising vcore.

Im confused as to how cpu temp can readout core temps??
cpu temp is a whole different reading than "coretemp"

dont use "cpu temp in bios or with any software program.
use "coretemp"
http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/
hope you understand

edit: my 8400 temps for some reference both cores were 35c at idle room temp 72F
cpu clock 3570MHz , 1.23vcore

Use RealTemp. I like it better.

I had Realtemp, coretemp, CPUZ and OCCT opened all at the same time monitoring the temps. And none of the temps went over 47*

Nope not in Alaska, lol. Is it really that good? My room is usually pretty hot. So I should have a really good chance to hit 4.0ghz right? What do you suggest i do next to get to 4.0? Should I try to shoot for 3.8 before i turn up the voltage?
