Thanks for the tip cky2k6. I moved down the vtt and ioh voltages and increased the cpu voltage after each attempt.

I managed to get my computer settings stable at 4.0Ghz with these settings:

Base clock= 200
Uncore Frequency= x16

CPU voltage= x20 @ 1.29375 V
QPI/Vtt Voltage= x36 @ 1.315V
IOH Core= 1.26V
Dram voltage= Memory x8 @ 1.66V

I have been testing it out for the past few days and it runs smooth. I'll check back if anything new comes up.

Hi everyone, new to overclocking the Core i7 and have virtually the same setup as the OP except with the EX58-UD3R board, OCZ OCZ3G1600LV6GK (8-8-8-24), the Akasa Nero cooler and am not looking for extreme overclock, but I need something rock-solid stable at a conservative overclock...3.6GHz would be more than enough, but I'd need to keep HT on for HD video encoding, which I'm using the rig primarily for. Can either the OP or any of you guys give me some quick and simple settings for accomplishing this? I tried a multitude of settings with this board (all equipment brand new, new OS install XP 32-bit) but get funky boot-up results or spontaneous seizing. Any idiot-proof non-extreme overclock advise? As I said, I'm not looking for 4GHz speeds, but needs to be absolutely stable at 100% usage for days.

I followed the YouTube guide posted on the first page and was unable to keep a stable system on Prime95 even at 3.5GHz. Based on that guide I used: CPU 20x, QPI 36x, Memory Mult. 6x, Uncore 14x (system wouldn't boot), Uncore Auto, BCLK 150-175. After only a few minutes of Prime95 processing, temps. at BCLK 165 were in the low 80s. I'm also a bit concerned something may be wrong with hardware somewhere as setting the board back to optimized defaults (only adjusting the memory timing to spec, which auto is set 7-7-7-16, and raising clock to 1600) and running prime95 still gives me high 60s or 70.
