Default CPU and MOBO Upgrade ($250)

My current CPU suffers from really high temps. And my motherboard is quite old and doesn't support many CPUs.

So, can you recommend a new CPU and motherboard for me. I don't need two PCI-e slots.

My budget is £170/$250

I mostly play games on emulators (PSX, PS2, Gamecube, Wii) and sometimes encode video. I'm willing to wait a while, so if it makes sense to wait I can do so.

Can you give me some sites you can shop from? I don't know the UK shops.

There is a bundle at overclockers UK for £140 odd.

Haha, yes, well I could google stuff all day, doesn't mean they're the good shops. I figured you already knew the best one, just like I know Newegg is the best for where I live, even though google would bring up tigerdirect, NCIX, etc.

I'm not going through 4 (or however many places google brings back) sites and finding the best one when you should already know the answer.

I recommend you lower your vcore, even lower your OC if you have to. Or get a new cooler.

And what do you mean, enough CPU slots? PCI slots?

For £170 you can get quite a bit

Would be for me I would say.

I said I don't need two PCI-e 16x slots. I dont have two graphics cards.

Hmm, I may as well just get a Q6600 from ebay. It's like £70 max.

The shops are the same, they buy from the same suppliers.
