I will try to set my FSB to 400mhz and keep my default RAM settings.
Also will look for mutiplier settings in BIOS.

Info on the test:
05:18 - FATAL ERROR; Rounding was 0.5, expected 0.4
05:18 - Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file
05:18 - Torture test ran 15 minutes - 1 errors, 0 warnings.
05:18 - Worker Stopped.

From 05:09~05:17 the temp reading was 68c~69c.

The worker #2 continued to run, which I stopped it at 05:21.
The worker #2s temp reading was 53c~55c.

Could this be the result of my CPU Voltage setting?
(It was set at 1.300v manually)

Yes cpu rounding errors found during stress testing of a small fft's are almost always associated with cpu voltage, meaning you dont have enough for the setting. Your temps are a bit high so I would say the clock speed you had is a bit too high for your cooler.

I think you should run your processor around 3.2 or so with the stock cooler. I could run my e7200 at 3.16 at around 1.2vcore if I correctly remember. I would try 1.25vcore and 3.2ghz, and settle for that. Anything more is gonna be a little hot for your cooler.

Default Update 400 FSB/8.5x Multi/ 400mhz RAM

*Breathes deep*...Ok.

Updated CPUZ readings;

and the Core Temp reading; (Initial / Idle )

Noticed that by raising my FSB to 400 my RAM went from 5:6 to 1:1.
Guess this is good?

Also this is what I changed in BIOS;

CPU Voltage: 1.35000v
Memory Voltage: 1.88v (I read that from FSB: 266~333 does not need voltage changes)

RATIO CMOS Setting : 0.85 (Finally found that this was the multi)

FSB Frequency: 400
FSB Strap to North Bridge: Auto
DRAM Frequency: DDR2-801Mhz (Next one up is DDR2-961mhz)
DRAM Timing Control: Manual (5-5-5-18)

What do you think? Anything I've left out?

nope looks good, but the question is..... What are your load temps at 3.4ghz? If they are too much you will have to bring your multi down to 8

I am fully aware that using stock CPU cooler is a big no-no.
However, I am more than eagar to try to overclock it with stock cooler to a stable overclock.

Doesn't matter by how much, but obviously 0.0001 microsopicmicrogigaherts increase is quite a pointless venture. Basically, anything is better than 2.8Ghz stock.

This is where I would require your wisdom.

A) What speed would I be expecting to reach on a stock cooler?
B) At this primitive stage of OC. Can I just alter the FSB speed to reach the same effect as manual BIOS override?

Any help would be much appreicated.

p.s. after reading about 28 pages of the relavant forum (and g00gle), I have yet to find someone with the same cpu with relavent info.

p.p.s. I did however, did see very few posts with E7400 owners with aftermarket coolers & thought that I would ignore them since mines all...*cough*...stock.
I have my E5200 on stock cooler and its running around 65Celcius. at around 1.2 volts kinda stable. Small FFT stable for like 15hours, and like LinX not stable. I can't test anymore it just bring it up too hot. I would bring it to 3.0 or just start with a 100mhz oc and go from the temps there. Did you put as5 on it?

Have a good night, if you are ok with your temps I would go ahead and run a stress test for a while and see if you get rounding errors or a bsod, you are able to boot but you still may be unstable. If you are unstable you will either need to lower your clock speed, your multiplier, or raise your CPU voltage, stay under 1.36v until you get a better cooler.

Mattb2e, I can't thank you enough for your time and your help that you have given to me so far. You are a testament to how people should be and be on forums such as this. If only people are like this in real life, man world would be indeed a much better place.
I also would like to thank all of you that helped me so far at this stage of my 1st OC process. (not to discount the rest of you out there)

I will re-run the Prime95 Small FFT test for an hour and see if that goes well.

I will post up the results, it's only fair that I get that info across to show my appreciation.
Also I have all given you guys a 'REP+1' thing.

More to follow...

Not good, guess FSB 400/ 8.5x Multi = 3.4 is too much.

Prime Small FFT is already showing a temp of 69c~72c.

Time to set the multi to 8 and see if that goes any better.
