Default How to O/C E6750 and GFX?

Hi guys and girl(s),

I have read a lot of topics and I know that my question most probably has been answered before more then once.. and this topic should be split over more then one section.. but...

My system contains: (yeah.. old system)

Mainboard: P5K WS
Proc: E6750
Mem: Twinmos 4 x 1 Gig
GFX: 7900 GTO 512MB

I want to get more out of my system.

Yesterday I have used Asus AI suite to tune the FSB to 400. This increased my cpu temp to 60 C (and higher). System was instable.
1) What is the best way for tunning the CPU E6750 ? What program should I use?
2) What cooler should I use to keep things coole?
3) Do I have to change something with my memory?

I also tried to tweak my 7900 GTO 512MB using rivatuner, using core 641 and mem 700.
It’s okay, but when running ArmaII I get white flashes in the textures.

All comments and suggestions are welcome.
Please help me boost mystem.

Cheers,
Fledder

The absolute best way to overclock the CPU is through the BIOS. But before you do, be aware that you may need to uninstall Ai Suite so that your overclock isn't reverted back to Ai Suite's settings.

Regarding which CPU cooler: it depends on your budget. But you can get a very excellent one for $39.98 before shipping. It's the Xigmatek Dark Knight. That's probably not the lowest price on it either. But it's a great example of what it might cost you, and this CPU cooler is a very high performer.

As for the rest, I'm not exactly sure how to answer it yet, so I'll just wait.

Well, I think I'm done overclocking. My system can't stay stable for more than 3 days no matter what I do. So screw it.

Xigmatek Dark Knight, okay that will be the vacuum cleaner that I will buy tomorrow

As for the bios settings, what settings can the E6750 handle (in the bios)?
And should I do something with the mem speed?

Use Lower settings on your 7900 to stop artifacting OR turn your fan up/get aftermaket cooler. Although it might be cheaper / better to just buy a 9600gso :P Use 3dmark or ATI tool for stablity testing

I'm sorry that I don't have the ability to provide any BIOS settings or suggestions on RAM right now, but regarding the Zalman: ew. No. But it kicks ass that you're looking!

Comparing the Dark Knight to the 9500 is just not fair. From what I hear, the 9500 just sucks. So, if you're able to get the Dark Knight, then definitely, definitely go for it.

Some other good options are, of course, the Tuniq Tower (since I own it, hehe), the Noctua NH-U12P, OCZ Vendetta 2, Cooler Master V8, and I forget what else. Of course, there's always the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme, also known as the "TRUE".

If you can get any of these CPU coolers, then you probably won't have any cooling issues (provided you install it correctly, which, of course, isn't as hard as I make it sound).

Okay, will lower the core and the mem.
Running now with core clock on 700 Mhz and memory clock on 710.
So it's not possible to push that further.. darn

Okay.. no 9500 for me then

I will check the availability of the others. Thanks for the tips!

The coolermaster is available. Is the V8 better than the v10?

Ooo, I don't know. It might be. I just remembered the "V8" for some reason. It seems to be a little more popular. But of course, popularity doesn't always denote superiority.
