I'm really happy with my E6750, it served me really well for 2 years, but I am seeing that the E9550 quad is dropping it's price more and more as the time passes, so as I can still run every game and app really good with my current rig I'm going to skip the core i7 generation, but I guess an upgrade on the CPU could be good...
What do you guys think? would it be worth to upgrade to the 9550 or keep my 6750 a little longer and get a full rig with the next generation of intel CPUs? Also I don't know if I'd really notice a upgrade on my ram from 4 to 8 gb... thanks in advance for the usefull comments you'll post =)

If your going to skip the i7 then a q9550 would be a good upgrade, with the prices coming down so much you could probably get it for $200 or less.

Yeah I know it'll be a good upgrade, but what I don't know if it will be worth it or if I should keep my money and stay a little more time with my current CPU, until the next generation of intel CPUs.

You could but if you want to get rid of your E6750 and more performance to your games and PC, go and get a Q9550 for now.

Wait until Lynnfield released.
It won't be too expensive and I think P55 motherboard will be more affordable than X58. Check the preview in anandtech if you haven't read it. ![]() If you can't wait, just get Q9550. It'll serve you well.

These P5Q's are better for AM2+ and/or DC. With all respect, that is not the best motherboard for a QC processor.

I made an upgrade from a E6750 to a Q9450 and I was very happy with performance boost. Your board should be fine overclocking your quad since its a P45 chipset should get to 450 FSB with little trouble.

I'm actually doing the opposite, but with a different, weaker QC. I currently have a q8200, and have been underwhelmed with the performance. Found a deal on an older E6750, and i'm going to put it in and sell off the quad core. At similar clocks, there will be a very slight decrease in speed, but more than $50 difference once I trade them off.
