Default Does OCing put my OS at risk?

I have herd that to be safe while OCing I should set up a stripped down version of my OS to prevent damage due to errors from overclocking. Is this really needed?

you may BSOD if you push it too far, but just back the OC down slightly or add some more voltage and you will be ok

If your computer starts to crash due to instability, you shouldn't lose data or corrupt files, you just will be annoyed. Just make sure you're stable and you won't really have any problems.

if you crash during boot, you might corrupt some files. (XP)

from my experiences at least, lately when ive crashed booting Windows 7, nothing really happened ( no corrupt files, or in-able to boot again)

I have corrupted an OS with an unstable overclock before, but I'm guessing it's a rare case as I have only heard of 1 other person to do that...

this is extremely rare, but you should be cognisant of it nonetheless

Otherwise you should be fine
