Default OC results: Pentium D925@4.5ghz

Processor: Intel Pentium D925 3.0ghz 800fsb, 65nm OC to 4.5ghz 1200FSB
Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 (excellent CPU Cooler IMO)
Board: Asus P5N7A-VM
Memory: 8GB A-Data DDR2 PC-6400 OC to 960mhz. @5-5-5-15-27 1.912V

Vcore in BIOS is set to 1.42V. cpuz reads 1.35-1.37V at idle and 1.30-1.32V under full load.

processor temps are 42-45c idle. 48-50c in moderate use. under prime95 after 30min it settled around 59-60c

i ran prime95 for about 30-35min and it was stable.......i feel that the system will never be under that much load for that long period of time anyway......running it for hours on end seems like a waste?

cpuz validation:

the Pentium D processor is not very popular i noticed around these forums but it serves me well. i bought this CPU a couple years ago for about 80 bucks at the time and i find it works quite well for everyday computing. its noticeably faster after the OC.

When you say "it was stable" I hope you mean it was for those 30-35 minutes, because that's all it's proving. Truly stable requires a solid 4-6 hours if not more. Getting something to pass 30 minutes on p95 isn't anything like getting something to survive for many hours.

Great OC though, and good temps to boot.

its been stable for the past 3-4 days at this OC. at 4.6-4.7ghz some funny things start to happen..........4.5 seems to be the sweet spot.

true running it longer will prove its stability further.....but the system is never stressed for hours and hours at a time.....when i get more free time i will run prime95 again for a couple hours.

Nice stuff man. What cooling are you using. That means i can get my 925 as high or maybe close if you can.

You do know that you can do other tasks while testing in prime. I realize that most people do not load there cpu for hours on end but by not stabilizing it you can do damage in the long run. You can damage the cpu and corrupt your OS.

thanks......i just find it funny that my brothers stock E8400 C2D 3.0ghz benchmarks faster than my OC 925....haha.......oh well....

as for cooling......the cooler master hyper 212 CPU heat sink and fan is like a refrigerator....it works awesome.....i originally had a thermaltake golden orb 2 which i bought years ago. my temps were pretty high.....i could not get any more than 3.4ghz without the temps shooting up to close to 70c.

the cooler master hyper 212 dropped 10-15deg easily at stock clocks. it would run under 40c at stock speeds. even when OC a little the temps only increased a few deg at most.

I'm only running the hyper 212 along with one 120mm 69cfm 1500rpm 18db enermax case fan. the cpu cooler and fan face the rear and it blows the heat/air out the back of the case & fan...

the CPU cooler and case fans are low noise which is what i wanted......i don't need my case to sound like a jet plane. the temps could be lower if the fans flowed more but then it would be to loud for my tastes....
