I am running windows 7 and i have an ASUS p5n-e SLI with a E6600 and When I boot up it, in the post bios it states my CPU speed is 3.0ghz but when I get into windows it only shows 2400mhz or 1.325 on the vcore althought I have it set to 1.5 I have followed many guides and I am sure the bios settings are correct...any ideas?

are you remembering to hit F10 to save your bios settings as you leave the bios?

Are you saving bios settings before exiting
__________________Have a look in your bios an see if you have C1E Enhanced Halt State enabled this is a power saving function when your pc is idle. You may want to check your temps to if your board has CPU thermal control T1 ,T2 if your chip is getting hot it this will cut clock cycles , voltage and drop your multiplier to try an save your chip. These are the options my board has not sure if yours will be the same but hey worth a look good luck.....

The C1E and Speedstep is a good point by gazza30. If you are close to idling and speedstep is on, it will lower your multiplier and voltage to save energy (Very bad for overclocking stability).

Speedstep is disabled and C1 is disabled. Yes I am saving the settings on the bios. In the Post bios it says my clock speed is 2.975ghz but in everest and cpu-z it says 2.4ghz even under a stability test.

How bout your temps think bout 60'c is the max for e6600 before throttling
__________________If your post bios confirms 2.975 just run a benchmark to see if your getting any increase in performance. Also try and set it to run at different clock speed 2.8 or something and see what happens

temps are same as without the OC and benchmark is the same as well, strange huh? Maybe I am overlooking something simple? Or could Windows 7 be causing this issue?

Had this exact trouble yesterday with the same board and CPU.
