What do i base my claim about temp readings on? The fact that I had a 1.300 VID chip that ran about 20C cooler on equal settings than my 1.225 VID chip. This has been backed up several times by others with the 1.225 VID's, including on a system a friend of mine has.. They just run hot.

Lol I just told you...you don't have a 1.225 VID chip. I have no idea how hot your VID runs compared to 1.225 VID. I wouldn't say 50C load is cool by any means at 3.0GHz. It's average.

I have no idea if 2.00B is 1:1, but yeah, that's the correct setting (System Memory Multiplier). I'm not familiar with Gigabyte's BIOS terms.

My system - Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 Point of View GeForce 8800 GT 512MB Gigabyte GA-X38-DS4 Intel X38 GeIL 2GB Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound progress? there isnt much i think i might give up... basically i reset my CMOS by removing the battery then i went into the BIOS did most options and managed to get a 3.00GHz overclock however i left a few things on auto like System Memory Multiplier and then i checked everything however my ram was running at 500mhz and my ram is only 400mhz is this too bad? after i saw my ram was running like that i tried to put it onto 2.00B instead of auto and it just crashed after i restarted and everything went back to default so i really dont know what to make of that? what i might try and do is reset the CMOS again and try doing all the options even System Memory Multiplier on 2.00B and see if it works but i just havent had the time to do it today... do you think my ram would be ok on 500mhz for each stick making it 1000mhz when my ram is 400mhz each so its 800mhz would it be ok if i just upped the ram voltage a bit? or is that too much of an overclock? |

I have no idea if Geil RAM is any good, but you just leave it unlinked @ 800 mhz,
and put ur fsb to 1333, that should work, it was very stable for me on stock volts. If you want to go higher than 3.00 GHz, then you'll have to jack up the volts.
