Why did you adjust the GTL lanes or did the board make those adjustments?

Anyways, you should read this thread about GTL lanes and 7 series boards. Yes, it's long. Come back and I will help simplify how to tweak the GTL lanes. This is prbly what's holding you back. W/o proper GTL adjustmens you will have to jack the FSB voltage to OC.

OK then. Start with the highest 100% stable settings. With lanes set to "+0" not auto.

So now that you have it stable and all lanes are set to hopfully "0". Start with lane 0. Increase lane 0 by +10mv. Test it each time you bump it. I personally ran 20 loops of IBT. Keep bumping it +10 until your OC is unstable. Let's say you where able to take lane 0 up to +120mv and it still be stable, any higher and it's unstable. Now you take the middle of 0 and 120, which is 60mv. Select that as your lane 0. Repeat process for each lane. It will take a while maybe even days, but after which you should be able to lower your FSB voltage and increase the chips stablity.

Now, if you have a lane that will not run stable at "+0". Say for example, you have a lane that is stable from +20 to +120, you again will need to select the mean(middle), which would be +70.

Here's an example of mine when I adjusted my quad at 3.2Ghz:

Lane 0 +80 (everything between +0 and +160 passed)
lane 1 +60 (everything between +0 and +120 passed)
lane 2 +55 (everything between +0 and +110 passed)
lane 3 +80 (everything between +0 and +160 passed)

After I did this testing I was able to lower my FSB voltage from 1.4v to 1.3v and then OCing to 3.6Ghz was nothing but adding vcore and NB voltage.

Not every chip is the same, each batch, and according to somebody on OCN, even the dies in the batch differ.

You might of just got a batch that isn't as good as others.

Default thx dude!

@PizzaMan

wow thx for the explanation dude...now i get it & makes me easy to understand how to set my GTLref plus i still reading & want to know what is GTLref and the function...im still working on it lol...im kinda slow sometime ...

hmm my class already started & dont have much time to do trial and error to oc at 3.8ghz...so my last try last night was 3.72ghz & it was stable!..

I've run Prime95 on Large FFTs and i stopped the test without any error and it run around 12Hours 34Mins....is that enough?...because my target is 12hours ....

btw here my setting to get it done :-

456x8 @ 3.720.61ghz
Cpu - 1.35v
PLL - 1.55v
FSB - 1.325v
DRAM - 2.1v Timing & Speed on Auto and it set to 465Mhz @ 5-5-5-18
NB - 1.4V
SB - 1.5V default
SB 1.1 - 1.1v default
GTLref (0) - +10
GTLref (1) - +10
GTLref (2) - +10
GTLref (3) - +10
NB GTLref - Auto
LLC Enable

here's the proof..

still on run- cLickMe

stopped- cLickMe

so do you guys have any comments on my setting, temps or others?...
just write it...i really wanna know others opinion so i can improve my knowledge lol ...

i wanna thx again to PizzaMan for the help..thx ya ...

NP man. I'm still reading the GTL thread at EVGA. Read it about 5 times now and I learn something new every time. Lot of info to take in.

I dont know about you but 79c is a bit high for me...and only Prime95 testing wich in my exp. dosent stres and gives much lover temps as IntelBurnTest. My chip at 3.8 and 1,360v gives me a max of 67c on all the cores with a Zalman 9700led (witch is a litle outdated cooler ) in an antec900 case.
I would tray IBT but have an eye on temps coz.they get like 10/20c higher as to prime95.

I think you have just reached the limit, increasing vcore should help it a bit, only if the heat does not get any higher.

remember people, usually your most CPU intensive program does not get the CPU as hot as linX, or prime 95 would get it.

Ya..i think its enough for now to OC'ed at 3.7 ...will do 3.8 if i got better cooler lol and time...actually fyi im using just little thermal on it bcoz i already finish my thermal lol lol...

i run linX & my core temp go up high like hell!!! ...i just tested for 1 time around 30sec...the temp up to 90C...wow wow wow!...btw I've passed 3dMark06 & SuperPi i run from 16k to 4M haha...will run MemTest 2morrow ...
