I'd say the best C2D is the E8600(3.33GHz, 6MB L2, 45nm).
The best C2Q is the Q9650(3.0GHz, 12MB L2, 45nm). The E8600 is $50 less than the Q9650. So, if you can settle with a C2D..get the E8600. If you really want a C2Q...get the Q9650.

That is a great overclock on one of the best C2D chips made. I would stick with that.
