Default Noctua Temps good Stock temps bad

I had to send my Tuniq Tower 120 extreme back and im glad i did now, dont get me wrong it looks great prolly the best looking cooler ever but it just aint compatible with skt 1156 even though it says it is.

So anyway, i ordered a Noctua U12P SE2 and it fitted like a dream (i`ll post a pic later) with the excellent fitting kit which fits perfectly flush and no play at all, not like my Thermalright TRU 120.

I couldnt believe my temps went from 47ish stock and ive got this overclocked to 3.1 n 1/2, to 28` with the Noctua. Just goes to show how crap those Intel stock coolers are.

I've got another P55 FTW so I might try that and see If that's the issue

The beeps are usualy for USB devices, I've heard of certain USB devices stopping these boards from booting as well..

I've had a bit of trouble with not booting too, it's happened about 3-4 times now when I first switch on the PC in the morning I get the first few beeps, then walk off to make coffee, come back and it's hung on a blackscreen. I kinda ignored it though and it's been fine the last few days

4.2Ghz on my i7 860 last night (HT on). Runs Windows XP and validated but fails stability testing.

Trying to get it stable but since it is my first OC I'm doing quite a bit of reading...

(Going to join this club after stabilizing @ 4.2, dropping it to 3.6 or 3.8 for 24/7. Think that's a good idea?)

(LOL I didn't fix the RAM timings...)

OK heres my new cooler and and overclock of 3.68 for starters.

I would be happy if i can get it to 4.1ghz stable and then back it off to 3.8 so that im 1gig above stock but you see that voltage of 1.376, that is going to prevent me from going past 3.9ghz. I have left the voltages on auto so does anyone know if it will become unstable if i lower the voltages manually ? Does auto usually ramp up your voltages too much ?
I dont really know what to do because i have no experience of overclocking a quad core, please feel free to make suggestions....

At the moment my OCZ ram is working well for me. I have like 8GB of the OCZ Platinum running now. It's only 1333 but it works great and looks sweet in my case.
Just FYI, the modules in 6GB kits do work for dual channel boards.
