5-10 runs IBT Very High to check initial, then once I get a frequency I think I will stick with for a while, I do 20 Tests, I have done 50 before. I would say 50 would be better though.

What I use is:
IntelBurnTest V2.3
Stress Level: Maximum
Times To Run: 15
------------------------
Intel Burn test 2.0
Turn on error detection: Y
Stress level: 1-Maximum stress
Runs: 15
--------------------------

I never really liked Prime95.

Right.

The Prime95 I use is Small FFT and I use the high stress test for IBT with all memory utilized.

But the more an overclock can do, the more stable it is.

I don't know what you're getting at with that statement.

The thing about my experience was that what most people would call a "stable overclock" while testing with these specific programs turned out to be not stable in a real world setting such as gaming. Even everyday use was showing signs of being unstable with crashing browsers and freezing programs.

For this reason my "stable overclock" according to most people's terms was deemed unstable by me and for that reason I don't use that setting. Actually, I don't have any overclock at all right now! I don't do anything that requires me to.

hehe, at 3.6 i do 15-23 passes before a BSOD

What I mean is that the more the system can do while it's overclocked, the more stable that overclock is.

For example: your experience tells me that the overclock would be MUCH more stable if you increased the stability in order to make it pass the following:
  • 12 hours of the Small FFTs test.
  • 10 hours of the Blend test.
  • 8 hours of the Large, in-place FFTs test.
  • 50 linpack runs at mininum using the highest stress level (or the most amount of memory possible).
  • 7-10 passes in Memtest.
If your overclock were tweaked to the point where it could finally do all of this, then you could throw anything at your computer and it would just laugh it off.

So again, the more an overclock can do, the more stable it is.

I would run IBT, but I'm limited by temps.
I can do hours and hours of prime95 small FFT at my sig clocks IF temps dont go beyond 68C ... if I run IBT I get a 124 BSOD (CPU error) which is caused by heat (~82C)
running prime95 small FFT at say 70C it fails after an hour or two at the most.

Nice. This is a beautiful example of how a CPU becomes more and more sensitive to heat as the voltage increases. But it's also a beautiful example of what "safe" really means: "safe" means "stable" (at least in this context, of course).
