I just noticed that my computer only recognizes 3 cores and 5 threads.
I have been looking for some answers but google has no solution I did load defaults and cmos reset ( i don't know if that undo the bios flash I did before) and still nothing. I used cpuid, evga e-leet and all shows 3 cores and 5 threads. evga x58 sli le motherboard 6GB ram ocz (1066) 1000 watts ultra psu i7 920 thermalright cooler evga 295 GPU I read that maybe a windows reinstall would do the trick but I need more opinions. I just thought maybe my ram is too slow? I'm desperate and I really wanna use the full cpu specs not just 3, I didn't pay just to use 3 cores

CMOS reset does not undo a BIOS flash. Have you recently flashed the BIOS(if so from what to what)? Has it ever showed all 4 cores?

Is the current BIOS a beta version? also have you tried to re-flash the BIOS in the case that it was a bad flash? Maybe try an earlier BIOS and see if that makes the OS recognize the other core.

Hey guys,
__________________I'm having a similar problem and didn't want to start a new thread. My Bios is only showing 2 cores... I have an EVGA x58 SLI (Not classified) with an i7 920. The options in bios for CPU cores is All 1 2 that's it. No four..any help would be greatly appreciated. I reset the CMOS settings and downgraded my flash from the latest one...no result...any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

thats all my bios shows, 1, 2, or all.
check from within windows device manager, to see how many processors it says you have.

It says I have 4..but with hyper threading enabled, shouldn't it say I have 8? I just dismantled my entire computer and reseated the CPU...changed the fan back to the stock fan because EVGA customer service stated that the volcano might be putting too much pressure on the CPU...I'll try that..but it's not looking good.
__________________I also removed the battery and the power to completely reset the bios. I'm also on the oldest version of bios having flashed it with 4 different versions. Any ideas?

With HT on, yes, there should be 8 'processors' in the device manager. too much pressure on the cpu is a load of bawls... the more pressure the better. If the Die was cracked, it wouldn't work at all.
Check task manager 'performance tab', see how many graphs are in there, if only 4, double check in bios, to make sure Intel HT Technology is turned on. if it is.... well, I'm outta ideas.
