set the faster ram to the slower ram timings.

Wats your vcore you need to play with it if you wanna go over 10% OC witch is 2300MHZ x .10= 2530Ghz or 2.530Ghz if u wanna have a stable OC

First off you don't have natching memory across the board. that is important in getting the highest oc. For now take out your 2gb stick and run your 2x1gb in dual channel. Make sure they are bothe in the same color banks. Either yellow or black. Right away you will get a higher stable oc. Your os will run fine on 2gb of memory. Give it a bit more paged memory and make sure you page to the harddrive the os is not on. That will help to.

Totaly agreed with udreambuild i did not see that but youll loose performance with non matching dimm memory even more if its 2x1gb and 1x2gb clocks and speed arent necessarly the same and youd rather have 2 or 4 memory instead of 3 (loose of performance to )

Quote:
You want to get the same pair of memory installed before you start overclocking. Once you have checked stability with programs such as prime 95 and mem test 86 then you may add the other pair of ram if you want. (I personally don't like using mismatched pairs of RAM since they usually don't go well together. You might luck out but I wouldn't use them in my rig personally) Quote:
Then change the settings in the BIOS to match these timings. Then see if you are stable at the timings recommended by the manufacturer.

You dont need any increase in vcore normally to get to 2.8...
Your vcore is as high as mine @ 3.5Ghz so chill, keep the voltage down..

I really must recommend faster memory to make the most of it...I've got my E6550 at 3.25 GHz at or near stock volts, running 18 hours a day. But then again, I've always had good luck OCing on Gigabyte boards. My friend told me when I bought it that I'd be lucky to get past 2.8...so I guess I'm doing alright.

I totally agree...our stats show that we're on the right track. BTW...we have disturbingly similar systems. I swear I didn't copy you.
