Default Overclocking confusion..

Well i play flight simulator X I hear it rapes the cpu like there is no tomorrow. I have it at a decent clock speed. 3.6..with 12X multi.. I still can barely get 20fps in airports. Is the amount of Cache holding me back?

Also if i upgrade my cpu do I need to reinstall windows?

What resolution are you playing at?

I'm not familiar with the game requirements but if you are playing at large resolutions, or the game uses very large textures, the 512mb VRAM could indeed be holding you back.

If you don't have enough RAM, the data gets swapped out onto your HD. This is immensely slower than RAM, and would slow everything down that is waiting on that data.

and it would result in frame rate lost?! really? Its mainly in airports and things. I rarely see hdd movement thought with it. I should probably get a new hard drive and a new set of ram sticks...

Are you having issues playing any other game or just this one? I rate more ram and maybe in the future a core 2 duo but thats my humble opinion.
