there is a pretty sweet i5-750 deal in Fry's. but i am wonderring how much of an upgrade is it going to be over my Q6600 overclocked to 3.25ghz ?

Not sure about gaming performance as I never did any comparisions before I sold my Q6600, heres a vantage comparision at 3.6ghz though..

I think the 32nm i5 is coming out soon and I guess it will perform better with the 32nm technology.

I love my i7 860 (i5 with hyperthreading basically) and its totally faster than my q9550. Worth it. really worth it dude.

core i7 and q9550 are about par untill games/ apps that use threading use it

That's something I'd expect a Q9550 owner to say. A i7 owner would not say that. They'd might brag about their i7, but a few i7 owners have owned the q9550 (including myself), and they will say it is a big difference.

Exactly.
Clock for clock, with HT OFF, the i7 is still more powerful than the 775 CPU's, the new architecture/microcode made a huge difference. Something like 30%? Turn on HT and it's close to double the CPU power for the same speeds. Now, finding something that can benefit from that extra processing power is another matter.. ..a
