Never OCed before so would love some feedback on my first run. When I made changes, the temps wouldn't get too hot, but the PC could not pass Linx 20 runs - "stopped upon error" after 2 runs.

Specs: Gigabyte EX58-DS4 (w/ BIOS v. F3 that it came with) i7 920 D0 OCZ 3x2GB DDR3-1600 9/9/9 Cooling: Thermalright TRUE rev. What is your RAM stock voltage? What is the part number on the RAM? Con you go into your user CP and fill in your spec's?

RAM is rated for 1.65V. On stock settings, it's at 1.5V. When OCing, I upped it to 1.64V.

I had similar issues with my RAM. It passed memtest86+ at DDR3-1633 8-8-8-24 but refused to reliably behave with Prime95 blend and some other tests.

Gonna run memtest now, see what happens ...

Well, it's probably a RAM problem. I ran memtest twice - first with the settings on auto in BIOS (it read the timings as 7-7-7-19) and 2nd with its rated timings of 9-9-9-24. Both times, the test stops at 7% and sort of hangs there ...

Did you make sure your motherboard is not overclocking the RAM? If it is you should:
__________________1. Back it off to the appropriate speed. 2. Verify that it is providing the right voltage for those stock settings.

I think I've narrowed down these errors to a RAM module. I took the trouble to run each 2GB chip by itself through Memtest. One of them consistently produces the same error in Memtest test #6. I wonder if that means I have to return it to the store now. Yikes.

Removed the offending module and now the other 2 pass Memtest fine in dual-channel mode. But Linx still "stopped upon error" after run #2. argh. what to do ...
__________________Edit: 2nd try at Linx with 2 RAM chips fared better. Passed 14 runs - by far the best I've seen on this build yet, but still not good enough

Why don't you post the rest of your timings, maybe it's not the ram.
