Not big deal actually. Once and a while the CMOS won't clear on an ASUS (Intel or AMD) even after doing it properly and waiting, 10-30 seconds, many minutes oir even a hour.
I've been in the do it over night only one and recommended to many and it's worked many times.

The old....
Out the battery
Unplug
Set jumper
Toggle the on/off
And still it took the overnight for some... at least it saved an unnecessary RMA.

Go figure!

I highly doubt you hurt the cpu, and if you did, Intel should replace it. Right, guys?
That is what I was getting at here, that he didn't actually clear CMOS.

I fully agree my old P5K-E was strange at times when OCing it.

well considering how many times i had to clear cmos during OC'ing i would hate to ever have to wait more than a few mins to clear it. i mean im frustrated anytime im clearing cmos because some thing went wrong and thats why im clearing it so i would hate for that to add to it you know.

yay! 600th post

Jose fill out your system specs in the CP and get a CPU-z validation and post it.

All of what the Duke said and I still had to pull the memory and video card, nothing else would clear the CMOS after my PC failed to boot at 1800 FSB @ 1.25 vid. with my E8400 CO

apologies for double post
