Default Socket 1156 or 1366

Which is the more future proof? Is it still the 1366? Somehow, sometime one would go down and one would be the mainstream.

well to my believe the i5 / 1156 came out to be mid end cpu offers for intel market, basicly to compete with amd's phenoms.

so i would say the 1366 is goin to be the more future proof socket in general

both are fairly new and should last a while tho

Yeah, 1366 will probably be more future proof. The new Gulfstream processors are going to use that socket. I think both will be supported for quite a while though, esp considering how new the 1156 is.

good points. but if I'm not mistaken, I haven't seen a socket 1156/1366 xfire board. I only see SLI board tho I've only checked the EVGA boards.

All X58/P55 boards are inherently crossfire compatible/enabled
Most are also SLI licenced

Go with 1366. The cost difference between the two is marginal and 1366 will be the enthusiast/ high end type socket.

If you'd like a 32nm quad core, then you could get any socket. If you would like a 6 core expensive monster, then go for LGA-1366. If you want a ATI 5000+/GTX 300 and up SLI/CFX setup then get LGA-1366.

MSIs could do both at the same time... too bad NVIDIA gave it the no go.
