Default Help me cranking up the bclk folks

is what i can get so far.. more than 220 = overclocking failure
what should i do? what's the highest bclk i should be able to achieve?

i7 920 D0
Gigabyte EX58 Extreme
OCZ Platinum PC12800

as for the ram itself, it can't go over 1600mhz..
don't bother the cpu and ram speed.. im just trying to get the max bclk first..

Up to 222 is possible before hard modding, I only did 220 myself before the mod but have seen screenshots of 222 bclk without the mod.

The mod allows increasing the pcie frequency, pretty much required to go over the 222 bclk wall. I'll post a pic of the mod, but be warned that the resistor that has to be moved is very very VERY small (& easily lost).
Have a look at the northbridge, there's a couple rows of resistors on the board under the E side of the heatsink to give you an idea of what you'd be soldering..

Why must you increase PCI-E? Sorry for sounding like a n00b new to the Core i7 still.

incease to 1.35V for your VTT and your CPU, and then see how high you can go

He was asking about high bclk, the board just won't go over 222 bclk (~4.66 Ghz) without the mod.

Yes, up to about 4.6 is still doable, I was thinking you were further along in overclocking when I answered about the mod. It is really only for benchmarking beyond 4.6.
