I Dont know much about this "nm" other then 65nm is old tecnologie ?
Here is my info: Standard: FSB: 266 Multiplyer: 9 FSB:Ram 1:1,5 Temp from BIOS: Idle: 22~ Core Temp 0.99.5 (5 runs): Temp Idle: 35 Temp Load: 67 67 69 69 (4 cores) OCed: FSB: 333 Multiplyer: 9 FSB:Ram 1:1,2 Vcore: 1,4v VTT: 1,35v NB: 1,4v Temp from BIOS: 35~ Core temp 0.99.5 (fails at 3rd run): Temp Idle: 45 Temp Load: 81 81 84 84 (4 cores) My CPU Cooler is a "masive" copper profile (think its zalman) with 80m 820rpm My question: Guessing the OC is noted "unstable" due to temps..?!? Would it help to change the fan to one that goes faster then 820rpm? or do I need a new cooler all together? Or maybe I can change some of my OC settings to avoid the high temps? lower multiplyer or higher/lover voltage in Vcore, VTT, or NB?

I'm thinking not enough vCore, but you'll need a better cooler to go up more.

You might have to increase the voltages for VTT and/or the Northbridge to get a good overclock, and for sure you'll have to increase the vcore for the CPU to get it's power source, depending on your goal for a Overclock
The Q6600 is still a good CPU to have, although it would be best to overclock it of course. As for a CPU Cooler, you'll definitely need a new CPU Cooler if you want to overclock the Q6600. I would suggest you look into the following: - Xigmatek HDT-S1283 - Scythe Mugen 2 - OCZ Vendetta 2 - Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme (AKA: TRUE) - Plus more, but I can't think of all of them at the moment. And if you want the best Air CPU Cooler out there in the market, than you'll want the Prolimatech Megahalems (AKA: Megatron)

So.. I guessed that I would need a new cooler if I wanna go higher then 3.0 or even to get 3.0 stable.. but the Intel Burn Test dosnt tell me the OC is unstable due to temps? it is due to Vcore (and maybe VTT/NB)?

My Northbridge Voltage did have to be increased to get truly stable, but it's been my experience that the northbridge voltage, unless set way too low, won't have any effect on small fft's with prime95. It isn't until you attempt either a blend run or the like that it has any effect.

Just raied Vcore to 1,475v and im now having "stable" with IntelBurn Test 2.3.. (5 runs)
Core Temp 0.99.5 showed some odd reading thought.. at 4th and 5th run the multiplyer droped from 9 to 6 and back to 9 like 10 times.. and core #3 (4th core) had a drop to -42 degrees (not 42.. -42) and had (!) behind its readings after that (the missreading happend when it got over 85 degrees I think).. Soo... Point is that I can gain a stable with my CPU at 3.0 easy.. but I will need an upgrade at my cooling..? ! ? (+rep me if im right :P )

Umm.. also my TJ Max is 85.. Just did some readings that TJ Max is "often" wrong and therefore the temp reading is wrong aswell.. what would the TJ max be for my CPU? (65nm q6600)
*Edit: I saw someware it was 90-100? also.. how do I change this in "Core Temp 0.99.5"?

What stepping is your processor? B2 TJ Max is 80șC while G0 TJ Max is 90șC.

![]() To all of you.. I did 399x7 (2,8) and then core temp is now 80-82 max load (IntelBurn Test) and stable.. is it bad for me to use multiplyer 7? or no real diffrence? and how about FSB:RAM? I read alot of guides.. some of em says 1:1 is best.. others say that 1 higher then 1) is better.. also FSB x Multiplyer.. it will run better with lover multiplyer and higher FSB (if RAM can take it)?

Post a CPU-Z screenshot. Higher FSB means higher Cache speed which leads to better performance. I really don't believe there is a difference on FSB:RAM ratio, so I wouldn't worry about that. No issue with using a lower multiplier than your max.
