Ok since my current rig likes to have a temp problem with the northbridge, i am deciding to use my nice big check i get from my school to build a powerhouse. I will be mostly gaming on it and using everyday programs. I know i will have atleast $2800 to spend and that is what i need to be under for the time being. I planned on going with an i7 setup and a raid setup (i know the potential consequences of running a raid 0 but i will be using this for gaming and using my current system for typing my papers and such. so this doesnt bother me).
For starters, i planned on going with a GTX 295 co-op with water cooling block i7 860 and thats about it. i need a water cooling setup if the waterblock didnt give that away and i have no idea for a mobo. I might plan on going to quad-sli later on so i need a nice psu as well.

You can watercool the 5870 using an mcw60 block I believe. Then just get some ramsinks to put on the ram.

For that large a budget, I'd say go i7-920, with at least 6G RAM. Keep the HAF932 you have now. If you're dead set on the 295 I wont really argue too much, although I'd recommend you either go with a 58xx series card (if you can ever find one) or wait for Fermi. if not, then I'd say save a few bucks and just get 2x 285 cards and SLI them because unless you're folding or you need CUDA for school, scaling quad-sli sucks. For the hard drives, depending on your needs, I would say 2x SSD in RAID-0 for boot & program installs, and keep your 1TB for data storage. If you need more drives, I highly recommend the WD Black series of hard drives. I'm not 100% familiar with the various I7 motherboards so I'll leave that recommendation to others. For a watercooling system - Heatkiller CPU and GPU blocks can't be beaten. Ask around the WC forums after you get the core components of your new build selected and they can give great advice. The last thing I'd recommend is try to find a good 24" monitor to add depending on what your current monitor is. Dual screens rule for multitasking! Best of luck with the new build!

a 1000W PSU is useless even two 5870s won't use that much power.
