Right, Straight to the point...
__________________I currently own a Q6600 but am possibly looking at a Q9950... My question is... * Will i benefit in speed? * Is it a cooler chip (as this isn't the coolest chip) * Is it more stable with OC'ing And of course... Is it a worthy upgrade? If not, recommend me another chip (not i5 or i7), as this is a temporary upgrade until i finally get one of those chips some time in the future. Talk amongst each other

It'll overclock higher than that Q6600, run cooler, and probably will be faster cause of the L2 and probably because you can overclock higher.
Is it worth it? I can't really say.

I would say hold off until you can get at least I7 generation goods. Otherwise if you absolutely need something faster than get the 9550 and overclock the hell out of it - You'd notice a bigger difference in the higher overclockability then you would just from the different amounts of cache memory on the processor. I'd say that 400-1000mhz more per core depending on how high you can OC is worth it if an upgrade is needed.

Wait, save money and buy an 17 920. There prices should drop next year, You can probably find some great deals on i7 boards from previous OCN owners.

I would say its worth it as a high clocked Q9550(4.2GHz+) can match and even sometimes beat an i7.
