Default E5300 vs E6300

Since I don't have money to go on AMD, I have to stick with intel
So I am looking at 2 CPU's atm: E5300 and E6300.
Which is better?
Also, my board has FSB wall around 400FSB, so take that into consideration because I will be overclocking it.

Without a doubt the e6300, I had mine go up to 3.4GHz, but then again, your board has an FSB wall and won't do that high of a clock with such a low base multi. The e5300 on the other hand is a Pentium Dual Core rather then a Core 2 Duo that the e6300 is.

Tough call.

Of course, this whole my previous statement would be invalid if you were talking about the Pentium Dual Core version of the e6300, I'm talking about the core 2. If you mean the pentium dual core version then get the e6300 for sure, I have herd of people who got up to 4+GHz

He's probably talking about the Pentium Dual Core E6300. I'm guessing they should be about the same, if you overclocked the E5300.

Even better for your pocket just buy the E5200 and push it to 4GHz. Here is the club for you http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...ng-thread.html

Yes, talking about the pentium dual core e6300 ( the 45nm version ).
How do the E6300 and E5300 compare when clock to clock and which one overclocks higher?

The E6300 is bit more expensive than the E5300. But not by much.

THe E5200 is an excellent budget processor and lots of people have been able to hit 4ghz with it.

The E6300 has the same amount of cache anyways, so you may not notice much of a difference. I believe the E6300 has virtuilization or something though (not sure what it's called or if I'm right), but I do still think the E5200 will do fine.

E6300 will reach higher FSBs if you like benching bandwidth-dependent stuff.

E5200/E5300 run into FSB walls; it's hard to get past 350-400 stably for a lot of them.

But for max speed, both clock well.

I'm running 4 GHz w/ my E5300...pretty happy with it.

Oh forgot to mention, the E5300 has a 0.5 higher Multi than the E5200. Something you might wanna consider since you mentioned a FSB thing about your board (but both clock well to a similar degree)

I love my e6300. Great little chip with a high multiplier.

You would be able to get it to 4ghz with no issues, assuming you have an aftermarket cpu cooler.

Well.. I'm not sure what my boards FSB wall is, but I heard that P43-s hit a wall near 400 FSB.

But what is faster clock for clock?
