Default cant get stable at 1.18v!
i cant get my CPU stable at stock clocks at 1.18vcore..... worker 5 in Prime 95 always fails after 1 hour.

there is no VID for core i7 and the default voltage in the bios was 1.24 but i know i can go below that.

CPU VTT: +200mV
CPU PLL Vcore: 1.725
IOH PLL vcore 1.65v
QPI PLL Vcore 1.100v
DIMM Voltage: 1.65v
IOH Vcore 1.10
IOH/ICH/ I/O Voltage 1.5v

There is a stock VID for every intel chip.

And the "default voltage" you mentioned there is your "stock VID"

how do you know you can below that if you're having trouble with 1.18?

motherboard has a influence, but if your CPU won't operate @ 1.18 then that's usually the CPUs fault

okay i have it at 1.22 running prime 95. im guessing i have bad overclocking chip.

lame it cant runn stable below default voltage.

Just cause your chip doesn't run below what its supposed to be running at stock clocks doesn't mean its a bad overclocker.


my E8400 failed to go one increment under stock, yet it still clocks to 4.6 stable.
there are tons of chips like that. doesn't mean its a bad overclocker
