I am thinking about upgrading my computer's graphics card from onboard graphics to a gtx 260. My current cpu is an e4500. Would the gpu bottleneck the cpu? Sould I also upgrade my cpu, perhaps to a q9550?My main use of computer is for gaming. Thanks!

The CPU might bottleneck the GPU, but the GPU definitely will not bottleneck your CPU.
In other words, just upgrade your CPU.

Yeah, If you crank up the speed on it, It might not be too, too bad.

I think you meant to ask if an e4500 would bottleneck the gtx 260. The e4500 may bottleneck it some. I would either oc the e4500 or get a faster cpu; but either way may not have too much impact on gaming.

umm.....well if you can overclock your e4500 to 3.0GHz it should be ok......but if you want to upgrade get an e8400....they're cheap enough and work well for gaming.....Q6600 @ 3.2GHz is plenty for most games if you want to go quad and pretty cheap too......Q9550 is a very good cpu but still spendy.....almost a price of a i7 920

I got a friend's E4500 to around 3.6GHz; if you can do that then it would potentially remove a lot of bottleneck in gaming.

So I should just overclock my current cpu, or buy a new one?

You should just overclock if it works great with your 260.
If you find that it still isn't cutting it after an OC, then definitely upgrade to something like an E7xxx or E8xxx. Quads aren't uber necessary at the moment, because not very many games entirely utilize quad cores. Unless you play GTA 4 non stop
