OK so i decided to OC my cpu the right way vs. just tweaking to 4ghz and hope that it is stable.I put the cpu volt to 1.25 and ram to 1.65 and left everything else on auto.I started OCing usin the Eleet software on 50 mhz incriments, using prime95 for 5 minutes, then after 200 mhz I would restart go to bios and set, then start the process over.So after an hour I got it to 3.8,I ran prime 95 for 20 minutes and everything was awesome. Now anything after 3.8 i get blue screens. So I tweaked around a lil got it to 4 and wasnt stable. This is where i needed help. After 3.8 i need to know besides the cpu volt, what else to adjust in the volts settings.Im just really used to the OC not using the qpi new way of OCing. So i need to know what the new way means and what to OC.I really would love to get my cpu to 4.2 stable.I know there all not the same, but I want to give it a good shot.So any help is appreciated and reps will be given out,Thanx...

I'm confused. Are you overclocking by the BIOS or the software?

Sounds like he goes through software tests for stability then sets it in BIOS and goes from there. I would do it all straight from BIOS might help.

What are your other bios settings? such as, uncore multiplier, and OPI vcore? Do you have HT enabled?
__________________List every settings that is not auto, it would be easier for people to see if you are missing something. As others sad, I think you need to OC from bios rather than a software. And I also think, if you are going to use prime95 for only five minutes or so, you better to use either LinX or IntelBurn test to test short time stability. Use prime95 when you feel like you have a nice clock with nice volts and temps.

ok just the cpu volt is at 1.25 and ram 1.65...all other volts are set to auto.hyperthreading is on,so all 8 threads are there.so after 3.8 which volts besides the cpu volt do i start tweaking? Now i am using the software first, then after a lil i go to bios, its quicker that way vs. always restarting then bios.It also seems to be working but after 3.8 i get bsod.just need to know which volts i should mess with.

Start from 3.8 and work your way up. 20 min Prime95 isnt stable at all. try to get 3.8 stable first then for to 4.0. Go atleast 5-8 hours pirme95 at 3.8 for now.
